This project is based on the art of “Kintsugi.”
Kintsugi pieces back together broken ceramic and then fills the cracks with gold so the broken piece is more valuable than the “perfect” one. When we do this as a group, we let the participants pick out ceramic saucers and then they break them with a hammer. The saucer representing what they thought was the perfect day and the hammer is life, “life-ing.” Then we ask that they incorporate at least one piece of their broken saucer into their new piece. When we’re done we use the gold acrylic paint marker to fill in the cracks.
Note: while creating this piece you MUST let go of perfection or you will never get it done. But once you get it done, you see invaluable gold in all your broken places.
This kit includes: 1 8×10 Pre-Printed Canvas, 50 - 60 Broken Ceramic Tile Pieces, Weldbond Adhesive, and 12 Acrylic Paint Markers.
